1.0 PURPOSE

This Emergency Action Plan (EAP) is to be used as a guideline to help prevent accidents or injuries to personnel in the event of an emergency such as fire, tornado, bomb threat, etc. This information will assure that personnel are aware of their responsibilities in acting in accordance with the procedures outlined in this section.

This procedure is also intended to comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulation 29 CFR 1910.38 – Emergency Action Plans.

This written EAP is available to all employees through the _____ intranet.

2.0 SCOPE

This procedure applies to all _____ employees, contractors, and visitors at the main _____ facility.

3.0 DEFINITIONS AND ACRONYMS

AED – Automated External Defibrillator. An AED is a portable device that checks the heart rhythm and can send an electric shock to the heart to try to restore a normal rhythm if needed.

Emergency Coordinator – Manager, Safety and Industrial Hygiene. The Emergency Coordinator is in charge during a building emergency and will interface with the outside emergency services Incident Commander as needed.

Incident Commander – In charge of all emergency response activities at _____ facility. This will usually be the Emergency Coordinator unless relieved by a member of an outside emergency response agency.
